AI and Change in Grammy award rules

AI- inspired creation may be recognized if a human creator has made a significant contribution to the lyrics or music according to decisions made by Academy Board of Trustees . The requirements demand that the human component of authorship must be significant. The use of AI in music has attracted attention in recently, with instances of using AI for regeneration .

      These developments have made the Recording Academy to ensure originality and human involvement in the process of creation. AI should not totally replace human contribution and such contribution may undermine creatively and originality.

In the Album of the Year category, a music creator the work eligible for nomination must now account for at least 20% of .the work. This is for artists, engineers,mixers, song writer, producer etc.

 Eligible nominees for the “Big Four” categories, Album of the Year, Best new artist,Song of the Year, and Record of the Year, have been reduced  to eight from ten. The academy said it aims to streamline , enhance the prestige of being nominated in these categories.


    The Recording Academy has revised the  “Best Music Film” category requirements.

   The Academy is of the view that the changing way of music making due to the advancement in technology highest standard has to be maintained to enhance the prestige in nomination. Due to recent advancement in music making redefining is important to ensure the prestige of nomination in various categories.

      Academy feels redefining the criteria is important to ensure human creativity  involved is of high standard. The role of AI should not undermine human creativity involved in music making.

Grammy awards are given to outstanding works in Music Industry . Boyonce has won the award thirty two trophies. The award demands various changes in requirements as the technology development has trying to replace human element in creation.
