Animal based diets require more water to produce. Raising animals for food needs more land and deforestation.
Disadvantages:
Some nutrients like vitamin B12 , omega 3 fatty acids are mostly from animal sources. So vegan foods may create deficiency of these nutrients. Some vegan foods are high in carbohydrate. So it may lead to over consuming of carbohydrate. Increased consumption of legumes may lead to leaky gut due to lectins and phytates that they contain.
